Polycystic Ovary Syndrome & Female Infertility Treatment in NYC

A common hormonal condition, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) affects many reproductive-aged women. Along with female infertility, it can lead to other serious health conditions, like heart disease and diabetes, when left untreated.

While the exact cause of PCOS is still undetermined, it is typically diagnosed when you experience two or more of the following signs:

    • Excess androgen, which can result in physical symptoms, such as excess facial hair, severe acne, and male-pattern baldness.
    • Irregular, infrequent, or lengthy menstrual cycles, a symptom that most women with PCOS will experience.
    • Polycystic ovaries, which can be enlarged and contain follicles surrounding eggs.

Because PCOS creates a hormone imbalance, it is the most common cause of infertility in women. If you have experienced any of the above signs, or are having trouble conceiving, give us a call. We thoroughly evaluate all patients and will discuss a treatment plan that will restore your health and wellness.

Low Testosterone & Male Infertility

While it is normal for testosterone levels to decrease as men age, once your levels become too low, you may start to notice symptoms, such as decreased bone mass, mood changes, and a lowered sperm count, causing infertility.

If you are having trouble conceiving and think lowered testosterone may be to blame, there are a number of exams, ultrasounds, and tests that can be done to determine the cause of your infertility. We; will find the root cause and the right treatment to restore your health and ability to conceive.

Adrenal Gland Disorders

The two Adrenal Glands are small, triangle-shaped glands at the top of each of your kidneys. They produce cortisol, along with other hormones, and there are a number of conditions that can cause them to malfunction. These include:

  • Adrenal Insufficiency (Addison’s Disease)
  • Cushing’s Syndrome
  • Adrenal Cancer

Parathyroid Disease

Parathyroid Disease includes overactivity (Hyperparathyroidism) or underactivity (Hypoparathyroidism), of the body’s parathyroid gland(s) located within the neck and behind the thyroid gland. Blood calcium, an important mineral involved in muscle and nerve function, hormone secretion, and bone strength can be abnormal leading to one of the following:

Hypercalcemia: higher than normal levels of calcium in the bloodstream that can cause confusion, muscle cramps, constipation, kidney stones, and anxiety or Hypocalcemia: lower than normal levels of calcium in the bloodstream that can cause tetany, seizures, low blood pressure, and emotional instability

Pituitary Disorders

This “master control gland” is just the size of a pea, but it creates hormones that affect functions throughout your entire body. Disorders within the Pituitary Gland can cause:

  • Acromegaly
  • Cushing’s Disease
  • Thyroid Disease
  • Prolactin Excess
  • Testosterone or Estrogen Abnormalities
